The Client's goal for the Howard Maitland Office building was to project a sophisticated up-scale, progressive atmosphere for the gateway building to a future corporate centre. Two buildings are now in place, in contrasting forms and materials to create a dialogue between them. Since the site was a suburban field fronting on a new express arterial, close to an intersection, we tried to reflect the idea of fast-moving vehicles in our free-flowing sculpturally dynamic facade, while at the same time trying to capture the car occupants' interest in a little detour to explore the unfamiliar juxtaposition of architectural forms.
